How the work gets done

Brush and small trees mulched where they stand

Our clearing runs on a skid steer with three attachments. A drum mulcher grinds brush, saplings and small trees into mulch. A brush cutter mows tall grass, weeds and briars. A grapple picks up what has to come off the property.

Most of what comes down stays on the ground as mulch. That work is forestry mulching, and it is how we clear the bulk of a property. The mulch layer covers bare dirt, which matters on Crowley's Ridge, where soil washes fast once the cover is gone. On flat Delta ground it helps keep a fresh cleared lot from rutting.

Every job starts with a free estimate. We come out, look the property over, then put the work and the price in writing. We are based in Monette and work about 50 miles around Jonesboro. Once the brush is gone, the same skid steer handles grading and dirt work.

Why Choose Craig Land Management

Built for Clearing Land in Northeast Arkansas

The mulcher, the cutter and the grapple

A skid steer runs all three. The drum mulcher takes brush and small trees. The brush cutter takes tall grass and briars. The grapple loads what has to leave the property.

Brush mulched in place

Brush and small trees are ground up where they stand and left as a mulch layer over the dirt. That covers the ground and saves hauling. What is too big for the mulcher goes out on the dump trailer.

A free estimate in writing

Call and we set a time to come look at the ground. After that you get an estimate in writing with the work spelled out. The job starts when you say go.

How We Work

How a Job With Craig Land Management Runs

From the first call to cleared ground, here is how it goes.

1

The call

Call (870) 351-5107 and tell us where the property is and what you want opened up. If we miss the call, we will get back to you.

2

We look at the property

We set a time to come out and look at the brush, the trees and the way in. Photos help, but seeing the ground is how the work gets priced right.

3

The written estimate

You get the work and the price in writing, so you can see what is included. Estimates are free, and nothing starts until you approve it.

4

The clearing work

The drum mulcher grinds brush, saplings and small trees. The brush cutter takes tall grass, weeds and briars. The grapple and the dump trailer move out what has to leave.

5

The finish

We leave the ground mulched, or rough graded if that is what the job called for, with the debris gone. Then we go over the finished property with you before we pull out.

Frequently Asked Questions

Questions About Land Clearing and Mulching?

The questions landowners around Jonesboro ask us most. If yours is not here, call and we will answer it.

Call (870) 351-5107

How do you price land clearing?
Price comes down to what is standing on the ground and how much of it there is. Thick brush and small trees take longer than tall grass and briars. Acreage, how you want the ground left, and how easy the property is to get into all move the number. We look at the property first and give you a free estimate in writing.
What size trees can the mulcher take?
The drum mulcher is built for brush, saplings and small trees, and it grinds them into mulch where they stand. We look at the larger timber on the estimate, and some of it is a job for a tree service. Open fields of tall grass, weeds and light brush are a bush hogging job instead.
What happens to all the brush?
Most of it is ground into mulch and left on the ground as a cover. Anything too big for the mulcher gets picked up with the grapple. That material goes out on the dump trailer.
Do you burn the brush?
We mulch the material in place or haul it off on the dump trailer. Arkansas counties post burn bans through the Forestry Division, and the status changes with the weather. If you plan to burn anything yourself, check your county first.
Do you grind stumps?
We do not offer stump grinding. The mulcher cuts brush and small trees off at the ground and grinds the tops into mulch. If you want stumps ground out or dug out, that is a job for another contractor. We will say so on the estimate.
How big does a job have to be?
A town lot grown up in weeds and briars is a job, and so is several acres of thick woods. We take one time cleanups and ground that has not been touched in years. Call and tell us what you are looking at.
What areas do you work in?
We are based in Monette and work about 50 miles around Jonesboro. That takes in Craighead, Greene, Mississippi, Poinsett, Lawrence, Randolph, Clay and Cross counties. You can see the towns we work in on the service areas page.
Do you clean up after storms?
Yes. Downed trees, limbs, brush piles and debris get cut up, grappled and hauled off on the dump trailer. Driveways and lots get opened back up. Read the storm cleanup page for how that work runs.
